Student Action

Student Action is a volunteer group at York that gives you the opportunity to give back to the community, meet lots of new people and have fun! There are loads of projects to get involved with which range from Kids Camp (working with disadvantaged kids) to visiting Lamel Beeches, a local elderly home. Other Student Action projects include Music Education group (MEG) which runs music workshops with children in schools, prison and conservation projects.

If you have less time to spare Student Action also run college challenges each term-so it’s a perfect way to get involved without committing too much of your time. These volunteering challenges can be as diverse as you make them, and are always a laugh- not to mention a good way of meeting fellow peers. It also gives you a chance to represent Halifax College in an area other than sport! We also run food collections at the end of term where food is donated to local shelters. Whether you have tonnes of time or just want to get involved in some one off projects, Student Action definitely has something for everyone!
To get involved pop along to the Student’s Union or to any of the Student Action meetings. Alternatively you can email the Halifax Student Action rep at sahalifax@yusu.org
