Halifax College has earned a reputation through holding events such as ‘Halifax Presents Take Me Out’, an event which sells out every year and is one not to be missed (take a look at some of the pictures), ‘Faxival’, an event encompassing sport, music and food all in one with live performances hog roasts and bouncy castles, this newly started event is a day and night which is unforgettable.
Other events include Foam parties, Bar FTSE, Casino nights, School discos, Bar crawls to name a few. We often have inter college events for people to make more friendships around campus not only in Halifax. An if you get a little bored of what York has to offer we even organise events to other cities such as Manchester and Newcastle have a once a year trip to Amsterdam! Make sure you don’t miss that as it is BIG.
Although at Halifax we lack a central bar we still manage to put on great events using the other campus bars and in our very own JJ’s. JJ’s is our common room which anyone from Halifax can access with sofas and T.Vs; it’s like Halifax’s very own living room.
Make sure you Join the Halifax College Facebook group to keep updated with all the events for Halifax college.
The Events Team
Here’s a list of everyone who makes all these events possible.
Jonathan Pask & Neil Dodd – Vice-President of services
Matthew Stallsworthy, Marian Lally, Charlie Gadd, Matt Winstanley – Ents Reps
Matthew Dudley – Common Room Officer
(And also the rest of the HCSA)
We’re all here to help so let us know if you have any suggestions and if you see one of us don’t be afraid to say hi. Hope you all enjoy your first year of university life.
Welfare Events
The HCSA also hold non-alcoholic events for those nights when there is nothing to do and your looking to kill time. We work closely with other parts of the HCSA such as welfare to bring events such as Carbon Speed Dating. This is a great way to get to know people in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. We also like to hold events which co-inside with things happening in the world such as sporting events like the World Cup and Wimbledon so that you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything you would normally watch.
Rag
Throughout the year Rag (raising and giving) hold events in order to raise money for charity and in Halifax we always like to do our part. Last year we won Mr and Mrs York, AND Woodstock, the two largest charity events which we smashed. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for these events as they are always a good way to interact with other colleges.
International
We also hold International events for everyone to enjoy. For example we held a cultural BBQ where different cultural societies came and cooked the various types of food for us.
