The Pitch
Halifax College is the largest college at the University of York. It is home to around 970 students on campus and around another 1600 off campus which is double the number of other colleges. Each and every year Halifax welcomes 650 new undergraduates, 200 postgraduates and student families.
Halifax College is a bustling hive of activity – we run weekly BBQs in the summer, frequent bar crawls every term, huge media-covered campus events e.g. Halifax Take Me Out (with the actual Take Me Out Twins from the TV Show participating in our event), inter-court sports tournaments, formal balls, trips to other cities, carnivals, casino nights, huge paintballing wars e.g. Halifax Vs Salvation Vs James and much more! Halifax also has the largest social common room out of all the colleges (JJs) with televisions, games, study space and wifi access.
Halifax College dominates College Sport at the University of York. In recent history we have consecutively won the College cup three times. With teams for netball, hockey, tennis, squash, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, darts, pool, rounders, badminton, football and cricket, we outdo all other Colleges with our exceptional participation rates. Many of our games and matches are media covered e.g. the ‘Doxbridge’ sports tour to Dublin, where our Hockey team finished on a high and was filmed and reported by the university newspaper. We pride ourselves on our team spirit on and off the pitch.
The unique open housing structure of our college promotes great social interaction between students which has given us an unrivalled college spirit, having won several huge charity and fundraising events including Mr and Mrs York for the past two years, Woodstock 2010 and the Volunteering Cup 2010.
In terms of broadening horizons of Halifax College for the current term and next academic year, the HCSA (Halifax College Students’ Association) has rebuilt a brand new Halifax college website with the aim of making it the central place for students to find news, sports updates and fixtures, pictures from events, news on upcoming events and activities and much more. With over 2000 visits every fortnight and over 50 facebook ‘likes’ within the first 24 hours for our first blog, the website is in very good shape to be an integral feature for Halifax’s news, media and plans. In addition, Halifax College will be distributing a new newsletter called “the Faxer” to be distributed to all kitchens of Halifax College. More details are below in our sponsorship package.
We are very flexible with sponsorship offers and open to ideas. Feel free to select several offers and we will build a discount package deal for you.
