RAG and Student action are two great ways to do so!

Both are really good causes and make a real difference, On this part of the website you can find information about them and who to contact if you want to get involved!

RAG

RAG stands for ‘Raising and Giving’ and is YUSU’s charity organisation. Most fundraising happens in RAG week, usually Week 5 of the Spring term, when we hold the ‘Blaggathon’, a RAG Viking Raid, the RAG Parade and then the RAG Bash to finish it all off with a bang.

In the Summer term, RAG’s biggest event is Woodstock – York’s very own music festival on the weekend of Week 9.

RAG is a great organisation that is going from strength to strength in Halifax! We had over 85 people attend our RAG parade a university record!

Student Action

Student Action is the section of the Student's Union which deals with volunteering. As your college reps the two of us act as your first point of call for when you want to get involved. There are numerous projects for you to be involved in, just give us a shout and we'll help you find something to suit you!

We also organise a college challenge every term so that everyone can get involved in a mass volunteering project. At the end of each term you will find us rooting through kitchens looking for any left-over food and bric-a-brac to donate to the local homeless shelter.

Halifax are the Student Action Challenge Champions, attracting more volunteers than any other college!
