The Courts of Halifax College

Halifax College Map

Unlike the other Colleges, Halifax does not consist of a main building divided into blocks and sub-divided into corridoors. Instead, students live in houses which are grouped together to form courts.

There are nine Courts in Halifax:

* St Lawrence Court - It is the largest of the nine courts. It consists of twenty-six houses, named from A to Z.
* Ingram Court.
* Irwin Court - The smallest and consists of only two houses.
* Lindley Court
* Wood Court
* Younger Court
* Ainsty Court - The newest part of the college with en-suite rooms!
* Hickleton Court - Also new has en-suites and houses our graduate population
* McHugh Court - It is owned and maintained by the York Housing Association. McHugh Court was its first new-build accommodation. It is occupied by students with families.

College members with families also live in Garrowby Way, an area of housing which is part of Halifax College. Garrowby Way housing is managed by the University.

Ainsty and Hickleton Courts are managed by UPP Projects Limited as part of the University Partnership Programme, a PFI scheme. They were built and originally maintained by Jarvis PLC.

The other Courts are managed by the College and the University's Accommodation Office.
